Barrister-at-Law Shahid I. Jamil was called to the Bar of England and Wales as a Barrister from the Hon'ble Society of Gray's Inn and an L.L.B. (Hons) from King's College, London, University of London in the Summer of 2001. Mr. Jamil also graduated with an L.L.M in International Legal Studies from the Georgetown University Law Center, USA in the summer of 2002 and is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of the State of New York, USA. He is a specialist in International Business Transactions, matters relating to the World Trade Organisation and enforcement of multilateral regulatory frameworks, Comparative Constitutional Law, Alternative Dispute Resolution, International Commercial Arbitration (speifically the Recognition and Enforcement of Arbitral Awards), Banking, Commercial matters, Corporate, International Financial Regulation, US Bankruptcy Law, Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS), International Law, Trade and Transport Facilitation, Contracts of Carriage, Electronic Commerce, E-Banking, Telecommunications Law, Statutory Interpretation, Constitutional and Human Rights law, and Labour Laws. His principal areas of expertise involve transaction practice, the drafting and vetting of documents and negotiations. He is also a member of the International Chamber of Commerce Arbitration Commision and has served on the Pakistan Ministry of Commerce Working Group for Arbitration Reform specifically concerning the implementation into Pakistani legislation of the New York Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Arbitral Awards 1958. Mr. Jamil has also worked closely as the National Legal Consultant for UNCTAD's and the Pakistan Ministry of Commerce's National Trade and Transport Facilitation Project in upgrading Pakistan's trade, transport, and logistics legislation in consonance with international best practices. He is currently teaching Company Law as a professor in S.M. Law College and in L'ecole for Advanced Studies.
